Electrical installation plan on the floor plan

Show the client where the sockets, switches and lights will go. On the same plan, review the cable routes and their lengths.

What you do on the plan

Walls, rooms, doors and windows

You draw the floor plan with real dimensions. Every room gets its area on the plan, so DINPanel knows where each point and circuit belongs.

  • Several floors in one building
  • Metric or imperial units, chosen per project
  • Export the drawing and import it into another project

Sockets, switches and lights in each room

Move a socket on the plan and you can still see which circuit it belongs to. It is easier to agree a change with the client and check its effect on the installation.

  • Mounting height for every point
  • Also network sockets, alarm sensors, intercoms and other low-voltage points
  • Doors, windows and neighbouring walls shown for orientation

Cable routes along the walls

Cables enter each point at a right angle to the nearest wall and follow the walls to the switchboard. In the floor view you can shape a route with control points or group cables into a shared bundle.

  • Automatic routing until you fix a route by hand
  • Shared bundles with a common trunk
  • Passages between floors at the floor or the ceiling

Cable lengths calculated from the routes

DINPanel measures each cable along its route and adds the mounting heights, the route level and the allowances. The lengths go straight into the material list.

  • Route at floor, ceiling or a custom height
  • Allowances at the switchboard and at every cable end
  • A length you enter by hand stays until you accept a recalculation

Hints about missing points

Have a kitchen lighting circuit but no light point on the plan? DINPanel points it out before you show the drawing to the client.

  • The room with a gap is highlighted on the plan
  • The plan is optional: circuits also work without it

The installation in 3D

Instead of explaining where a switch goes or how a cable runs, show the client in the 3D view.

  • The whole building or a single room
  • Cable routes at the right height

How a cable length is calculated

Every part comes from the plan or the project settings. You can change the allowances.

Route on the plan + Mounting heights + Passages between floors + 1 m at the switchboard + 0.4 m per cable end = Cable length in the material list

How it works

  1. Draw the walls

Add the walls, doors and windows of each floor.

  2. Mark the rooms

Assign an area of the plan to each room of the building.

  3. Place the points

Put sockets, switches and lights on the room plan and connect them into circuits.

  4. Check routes and lengths

Review the routes, the cable lengths and the 3D view, then export the plan.

What the plan gives you

The plan is part of the project, so its data is used everywhere else. Click to see a real page from the demo project.

  • Plan as a PDF A PDF plan of installation points, for agreement with the client and for handover after the project is updated.
  • Cable lengths in the material list Cables and boxes with EAN codes for the wholesaler
  • Proposal for the client Materials priced from the same project

From the plan to the switchboard

The circuits you draw on the plan go straight into the switchboard design. You do not enter them twice.

Questions about the installation plan

Do I have to draw a plan to design an installation?

No. You can work with the circuit list only. The plan adds the point layout, cable routes, calculated lengths and the 3D view.

How does DINPanel calculate cable length?

It measures the route shown on the plan and adds the mounting heights of the points, the route level and the passages between floors. It also adds an allowance at the switchboard and at each cable end. The default allowances are 1 m and 0.4 m and can be changed.

Can I enter a cable length by hand?

Yes. A length you enter stays in force. After a route change, DINPanel offers a recalculation, and you decide whether to accept it.

Does the plan support several floors?

Yes. Each floor has its own plan. Cables between floors go through passages that you place at the floor or the ceiling.

Can I show the plan to the client?

Yes. You can export the plan to PDF and show the installation in the interactive 3D view.
